Ahh this is one of those products everyone raves about, rightfully so. In case you are clueless as to what CC is (I promise you're not alone), it stands for Color Correcting. Think of a moisturizer that evens out your skin tone by addressing the redness or discoloration. A moisturizer that also acts as a foundation, only lighter and breathable. I picked this product up at Ulta Beauty on Black Friday for $38 after trying a sample. What really sold me on this product was the consistency. The CC cream felt SO soft and light on my skin, almost bare, hence the logo, "Your Skin but Better." The best way to describe this product that it reminds me of a flawless, magical, silky veil overtop my skin. It's definitely there but not obvious.
As a working mother and wife who is always on the go, I wanted something quick and easy. I moisturize daily, especially before leaving the house but I always wish I had some type of coverage, even minimal, without the need to sit and blend and blend and blend. This cream is perfect. The tube indicates that it is full coverage although I promise it does not feel like it. My issue is not that a foundation is "full coverage," but rather the thick consistency and caky feeling when it is on my face. Sometimes, I use a little bit of Tarte Shape Tape concealer (very little - this concealer goes a LONG way) on the under eyes and on blemishes. Then, using my damp sponge, I blend the concealer into my CC cream. You have to be careful with the concealer though, the consistency will not match the cream if you add too much. You will end up with a lot of cake and defeat the purpose of the "magical veil" that I've described. I also set it with a tiny bit of powder so that it does not oxidize or appear oily.
Prior to learning about this product, I was using drug store foundation (Loreal Tru Match) on the "daily". The problem is that the majority of the time, it's too much work on my early days (I wake up at 4am for bridal parties people) AND it clogs my pores, does more damage than good. I like the skin on my face to "breathe" during the week, especially in the warmer weather. Who wants to be wearing thick foundation while outdoors in 80 degree weather?! NOT I. So what is the difference between this CC cream and drug store foundation? The CC cream, unlike foundation, is actually beneficial to your skin. Aside from the obvious one, sunscreen, the second ingredient listed on the box just following water is snail secretion filtrate, yes SNAIL SLIME! This ingredient dates back to ancient Greece, being known for its hydrating, anti-aging, skin smoothing qualities. It's also known for its minimizing the appearance of pores. In addition to the oh so yummy snail slime, it also has some of the same ingredients in my anti aging kit: hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and Vitamin A, B, C and E. With that being said, doctors and scientists say these ingredients do not take the place of fillers and botox. Sorry folks!
The CC cream comes in the original and the illuminous, I prefer the original because I like more of a matte finish. I purchased it in the color Medium. Looks a little yellow on my wrist but when its blended on my face, it's the perfect color for me.
